AIR FRANCE LAUNCHES ITS PARIS-KUALA LUMPUR ROUTE (late post)

 
Fyi, AIR FRANCE LAUNCHES ITS PARIS-KUALA LUMPUR ROUTE.
Starting today, Air France will serve Paris by three weekly flights on departure from Kuala Lumpur. With the new service, Air France now serves 15 destinations in eight Asian countries.

These flights will complement KLM’s 14 weekly frequencies to the Malaysian capital, which seven of them are operated by KLM codeshare partner Malaysia Airlines. Air France-KLM operates over 200 weekly flights connecting Europe to Asia via the Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol hubs.

“The strong bilateral relations between Malaysia and France, complemented by the growing economic development, as well as its attractiveness as a tourist destination, make it a very good proposition for Air France-KLM to use Kuala Lumpuras a location to increase our presence in South East Asia. Customers wishing to travel to Indonesia from Europe will also benefit from connecting opportunities to Jakarta offered by KLM,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air France, Alexandre de Juniac, upon his arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Dato’ Azmi Murad, Senior General Manager of Operations Services Malaysia Airports expressed his delight in welcoming Air France to KLIA, “This is a momentous occasion for Malaysia Airports. Air France presence will have a significant effect on KLIA’s status as the preferred hub in this region. I am confident the direct connections to Paris will receive good response and high demand due to the popularity of the capital city of France as a tourist destination. Malaysia Airports wishes Air France all the success for their operations in Kuala Lumpur.”

Air France will operate three weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport (France), with the inaugural flight landing in KLIA today.

This destination will be operated by Boeing 777-200 aircraft with a total capacity of 246 seats, equipped with 4 seats in La Première, 48 seats in Business, 24 seats in Premium Economy and 170 seats in Economy.

In order to offer customers increased comfort on its routes, the French flag carrier will be operating night flights from and to Kuala Lumpur.

The opening of KLIA2, which was earlier announced as 28 June 2013, is confirmed to be delayed, according to Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB). A revised opening date will be announced later. MAHB told that they do not want to rush the construction, as it may cost the airports quality and safety.
KLIA 2 is expected have 60 gates, eight remote stands and 80 aerobridges, plus a 32,000 square metre retail space with 225 outlets. And with some 10 airlines committed to operate from it, the klia2 is built to cater for the explosive growth expected in low-cost travel, while envisaged to also handle a maximum of 45 million passengers per annum.
Even with the delayed, the cost is expected to be non-affected.

Where Is KLIA2

The KLIA2 is located 1.5km away from KLIA. A rail extension is being constructed to connect KLIA to KLIA2.

KLIA 2 Next Generation Hub

The KLIA2 is built to be Malaysia's Next Generation Hub - International Airport Hub - that allows seamless connectivity for both local and international low-cost plus full-service carrier.
The KLIA2 is built to cater for the explosive growth in low cost travel. It is designed to cater 45 million passengers a year, replacing the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) once it's ready. It is built with bigger capacity and superior facilities.
The new KLIA2 terminal is measured to be at least 257,000 sqm, with 60 gates, 8 remote stands, 80 aerobridges, plus a retail space of 32,000 sqm to accommodate 225 retail outlets.
Costing around 4 billion Malaysia Ringgit, the KLIA2 was scheduled to be opened in 28 June,2013. But due to construction delay, the new KLIA2 terminal is now being scheduled to be opened on 2 May 2014...
